If you are not pregnant, you probably won’t need one. If you are pregnant, then YES! Yes, you should. Here's why:
Hiring a doula comes with amazing wellness benefits including a shorter labor with less pain. Say what? But that’s not all. The American Pregnancy Association states that, “Other studies have shown that having a doula as a member of the birth team decreases the overall cesarean rate by 50%, the length of labor by 25%, the use of oxytocin by 40%, and requests for an epidural by 60%. Doulas often use the power of touch and massage to reduce stress and anxiety during labor.”
My favorite description of a doula is a mother of the mother. In the book The Doula Advantage, a doula is described as “a professional who provides emotional, physical, informational, and practical support for the expectant, laboring, or postpartum mother. She does not perform any medical tasks but actually complements the medical birth team.”
*The total fee for these services is $500. For the next 4 clients who hire me I am offering a 60% discount for a total of $200.
